EXTINCT SPECIES PATTERN
Spring '07
A collaborative play using illustrations of endangered/extinct species and the infinite nature of the digital realm. Each participant chose an animal to bring to life in a multi-level pattern tile, which, once combined with others' of the group and reproduced by the internet, would potentially never repeat itself. My pattern tile tells the story of the Stephen's Island Wren, which once survived only on Stephen's Island in New Zealand. The birds were systematically killed and delivered to the master of the island's lighthouse by his pet cat.
